It is worth noting that the WHO recognizes more than 100 situations for which acupuncture may be effective. Here is a list of some of the possible indications:

  • gynaecological problems: infertility, menopause, cystitis tendency, fungal infections, impotence

  • menstrual problems: pain, irregular cycle, PMS

  • pregnancy & consequences of childbirth: morning sickness, seat position, energy recovery after childbirth, low milk production

  • fatigue, lack of energy

  • anxiety, insomnia, depression

  • headaches, migraines

  • digestive problems: constipation, diarrhoea, distension, heartburn, reflux, appetite disorders

  • respiratory problems: coughs, asthma, allergies, bronchitis, sinusitis

  • joint pains, backache, tendinitis, rheumatism

  • skin problems: acne, eczema, psoriasis, fungal infections, excessive sweating

  • tobacco, alcohol, and drug addiction, obesity

  • vascular problems: circulatory disorders, anaemia without any organic cause, high blood pressure in a supporting capacity

  • the auditory system: otitis, tinnitus, giddiness

  • in a supporting capacity for cancers/chemotherapy, to boost the immune system
